Odd Questions and Odd Answers

Hello!

Today, I will be answering odd questions that my friend, Dr. Elemis Pott. came up with and posted on her blog (blueboxinthebasement.blogspot.com). :) This should be fun! So, kick back, relax, and enjoy getting to know some odd things about me.

Question 1.  What book/movie character represents you when you are acting evil?
Ever saw a movie where a character acts like a jerk, yet you know you would have done the same thing?
Hmmm. This one is so impossibly hard. I would have to say someone along the lines of Sauron. I, too, attempt to take over the world when I'm feeling evil.

Question 2.  You have two months to live.  What do you do in those two months?
Travel the world, help people whenever possible, enjoy life to the greatest extent.

Question 3.  What is that thing you always have with you, that no one else thinks is a necessity but you feel lost without?
My R2D2 umbrella. Everyone is surprised that I carry it everywhere, but you never know when it might rain!Question 4.  You are lost alone in the wilderness, and you know that this forest is infested with cannibals.  Who would you be most happy to have come and save you?
Anyone, really. As long as I don't get eaten... Actually, my mom spent a summer in Papua New Guinea where there were cannibals, so I think I would most like her to rescue me.
Question 5.  What smell or sound makes you happy?
Then think about why it makes you happy.
The smell of our house during Christmas. There is so much baking that goes on, and everything smells like peppermint, gingerbread, and chocolate. There is also Christmas music playing over the speakers, with the same CD's that we've had our entire lives. It's magical.

Question 6.  You have to choose between dancing alone on stage in front of hundreds of people, or start a conversation with your crush.  Which do you choose?
And why?
Well, I've done both of those things, and I must say that the dancing part is a bit more exhilarating (sorry, crush!). There's something about being alone on a stage doing a performance while everyone is watching. Ahhh. I love that feeling more than anything.Question 7.  You suddenly find yourself tragically without a family and without a home.  If you could decide, who would you choose to adopt you as your new family?  Or would you want to live alone?
Poor family and home! I would probably choose to have my best friend, Kookie's family adopt me. They're amazing and I pretty much already live over there. :)Question 8.  What smell or sound makes you sad?
The songs that I've done dances to always manage to make me sad and sentimental. As for a smell, I can really get into the "sad feeling" right after it's rained.Question 9.  What movie/book character represents you when you are being virtuous and heroic?
There are very few book characters that I actually like, so this is much harder for me than it should be. I'll get back to you.Question 10.  Is there something dorky that you think is cool and wish was socially acceptable?
Well, there are a lot of things that I wish were socially acceptable, but none of them are really dorky. A lot of people don't appreciate jokes and references to shows/movies/literature. Not quite dorky, but there needs to be more appreciation. Question 11.  What's better, a Chick-fill-a sandwich, or a fancy green nutritious lunch?
Hint:  The answer is always Chick-fill-a.
Remember how I've said how much I love ice cream in the past? Well, the same goes for Chick-fil-a. Oh, goodness. I love it so much. So much. Question 12. If you could make up how the rest of your year would go, how would it go?
Well, there would be amazing grades on all school assignments, more sleep, and I would graduate next semester. I would also travel a lot and have more down-time. Oh, and eat more Chick-fil-a. Question 13.  If you could choose your death, how would you die?
I'm sorry, but I must share an answer I received when my friend asked this to another friend.  He hummed and put his hand to his chin and then looked up and said, "I'd like to have Alzheimers and go sky diving."
It was a slightly disturbing response, but incredible how he came up with something so cleaver so fast.
Please forgive me.
I would die a heroic death, saving somebody. Or doing something that's crazy but brings me a lot of happiness.

Question 14.  How are you?
This might be the hardest question to answer honestly.  "Good" is not an answer.  That's not even grammatically correct!  (I only know this because I have a smart family).  Once, after a relaxation exercise, my drama teacher answered this question by saying, (in her New Zealand accent) "Well, everyone is going to say relaxed, so I'm going to say that I feel like the hum of a guitar string right after it's been plucked." And she beamed with pride.  I have to say I was blown away with this response.  (I'm not saying your answer has to be that poetic).
Well, last time I checked I still have all of my limbs, I can still breath, and I'm currently binge-watching a Chinese Drama that I discovered yesterday, so I have to say that My life is fairly great at the moment. How about you?

Question 15.  You were selected to fight in the Hunger Games.  What do you do?  Do you try to win?
Sorry.  This is a depressing question.  If you don't know the Hunger Games, don't even answer.
I would hide, stay on the defensive, but if someone attacked, I would be okay with doing what needed to be done to stay alive as long as possible.
Question 16.  Why are you still reading this?
You have better things to do.  Go do some push-ups and come back.
You're right. I have play practice to get ready for. 안녕!
Question 17.  As a school project, you are given a peace of paper, a pen, a dark room, and fifteen minutes to write anything you want.  What do you write?
I would probably try to write something all deep about my surroundings or something, but end up doodling instead.

And that concludes the odd questions with odd answers! Thank you for sticking with it and learning some weird facts about me!! Hope you have a great rest of your day!

Live long and prosper and do something productive with your life other than marathoning dramas. Oops.

SHINee Comeback!!!!!

Hello again, minions!

First of all, I shall share the most exciting news ever! SHINee is having a comeback on October 5th!!!! AHHHH!! (Human terms: my favorite Korean pop group is releasing a new album on October 5th!) It was supposed to come out in September, but they had to delay it, most likely because of Onew's sprained ankle. (Human terms: The leader sprained his ankle and couldn't dance for a while, most likely). BUT I AM DYING OF EXCITEMENT!!! AHHHHHH!!!! So, enjoy this picture of them and gaze upon their perfectness... *sighs*
From left to right:
Back Row:
Taemin - Maknae (or youngest) of the group, but by far the best dancer; perhaps ever.
Minho - Also called "Flaming Charisma Minho", my absolute bias (favorite) of the group and all Kpop idols ever. He's the rapper, and is absolutely perfect (he also plays soccer). <3 Also, my best friend and her family call me "Minho" due to Kookie and I having the same name...
Key - Also called "Diva Key", the most dramatic, fashion-crazed of the group. He is my least favorite of the group, but I still like him a lot.
Front Row:
Onew - The leader of the group. He's clumsy, breaks stuff, and is absolutely hilarious. He has the most unique voice ever, and is a main vocalist.
Jonghyun -  The main vocalist. His range is incredible so, if there's a high note in a song, that's probably him. He also writes a lot of the lyrics for their songs.

And there you have it! Brief profiles of the fellows who have taken over my life and brought me all kinds of happiness. Here's to many more comebacks, happy times, concerts, and wishing I lived in Korea...

Busiest Weekend of my Life

Hello again, minions!
How have you been? Has life been treating you well? I do hope so! :)

Here's what has been going on in my life this past weekend:

Thursday: Drive down to the Springs, drop off mom and brother, buy gas and food in a hurry, RUSH to play practice, drive back into town to hang up fliers and buy a cupcake for my best friend Kookie's birthday. Return home late and sleep.

Friday: Wake up, make fondant items from Shaun of the Dead for my best friend's birthday party (Okay, there's going to be a lot about her birthday in here because I love her birthday), bake millions of other things for a rummage/bake sale that is happening Saturday, finish the scavenger hunt for Kookie's birthday. Pick up a blindfolded Kookie and drive her to the Springs to do the scavenger hunt (Which was so much fun! :D). Return late after a quick trip to Walmart and stay up until 2AM to finish baking and prep for tomorrow.

Saturday: Wake up at 5 (that's right, folks. 3 hours of sleep), load the car with a brave friend who was so kind as to wake up crazy early to help tote stuff to the rummage sale, arrive and start setting up, more people arrive to help, stand in the freezing cold all day (it wasn't THAT cold, but still. It was pretty darn cold), deliver cupcakes to Kookie for her party, return to rummage sale. Pack up remaining stuff and drop it off at Goodwill, go to Taco Bell and Walmart to buy presents for Gideon's birthday, get dropped off at Kookie's house, play Lords of Water Deep, greet people as they arrive for her party, talk to people, socialize with awesome new kpop-obsessed people (Yay!), eat pizza and cupcakes. Head to the theatre at 9 for a showing of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (which was great, by the way), eat lots of popcorn, return to Kookie's at 11 and crash around 12.

Sunday (Gideon's birthday!): Wake up at 9:45, talk to Kookie's awesome sister, bake chocolate almond scones with Kookie's sister while everyone is at church, get picked up after putting real pants on (this is a very important event), go fishing with younger brother, mum and dad, put bait on everyone's hooks because I don't have a fishing licence yet. *Everyone caught a fish and Gideon caught two! I'd like to think that it was my bait that caught those fish* Return home and finally start on homework that is due Monday, eat the fish that they caught, Gideon opens presents, eat ice cream cake, work on more homework, watch "Something Wicked This Way Comes", note that I have to watch it again because I was doing math while watching it. Go to sleep around 11:30-ish.

Monday: Wake up at 5, go to math, don't understand anything, stress over test on Wednesday. Don't have Psychology, so sit in the library and finish English homework. Wait for English class at 11:30 and in the extra time, write a terribly long blog post that nobody will probably read but makes me feel a little better.

If you stuck with it that long, congratulations! You win a prize! You get an all new, never-before seen......... Smiley face! :D (At least it's a really happy one, right??)

Anywho...
Live long a prosper and happy Monday... I hope it's been the best day of your entire life so far (Did you hear that, Monday? I really need you to pull through for me here...)!

First Day of Fall

First day of Fall!

Fall is one of my favorite seasons other than Summer, Winter, and Spring! Wait...

Anyway, are you ready for chilly weather, pumpkins, leaves changing, bonfires (as long as they don't burn down the state. Heh), cozy evenings, apple cider, warm sweaters, Halloween, and so much more? I know I am!

There's something about the beauty of Autumn that is completely entrancing. Something about the leaves changing and the millions of stars and the warm drinks on a chilly day. Something about sitting around a campfire with friends, roasting marshmallows and laughing over funny stories. Something magical surrounding the world as you take a long walk through changing trees. There's a calm yet exciting feeling in the air throughout the entire season.

Of course, I can't forget about Halloween! Brainstorming for costumes, decorating the house, going to parties (especially the lip-sync party that my best friend and her family always throw), and our long-time tradition of trading candy after all the festivities are over. Speaking of, any ideas for a costume for me this year? Last year was Legolas, which will be extremely hard to top.
^^^ Ignore my "deer in the headlights" facial expression, but this was my Legolas costume! :D

Live long and prosper and I CAN'T KEEP CALM BECAUSE IT'S FALL!!

BE BRAVE!

Why are people so scared to be brave?

I don't know, but I suppose I can make a pretty good guess. They're afraid of rejection. The world might not accept the crazy/brave/happy action. And goodness knows that is pretty much the worst thing ever. *not*

It takes people (including me) a long time to feel comfortable enough around other people to, for example, break into dance or song out of nowhere. (If you're one of those people, feel very special).

But imagine the horror if you did that around a new acquaintance! Your life would be over! Haha, no. It really wouldn't. You may make a new best friend! You may find that they are into the same music/dance/tv shows as you!

So, be brave today.

Try a new, weird food!

Dance in the rain (unless you have hair dye that bleeds all over everything when it gets wet. In that case, be sure you bring a hat or a rain coat with a hood before you do anything in the rain. Heh)!

Ask questions in class when you don't understand something rather than suffering the consequences later!

Try to hit that high note at the end of "The Phantom of the Opera"!

If you like somebody, tell them. Be straight-forward. Take the chance and something great could happen.
DISCLAIMER: Of course, there are times when the other person doesn't feel the same way, but wouldn't you rather know? I think I would. If you both are mature, and the feelings aren't mutual, then the friendship can go on, contrary to popular belief. Or if it doesn't work out, then you can still be good friends (speaking from experience). But imagine if the feelings are mutual! Something great and magical could happen if you're willing to take the chance.

Be weird, be spontaneous, and for goodness sake, be brave. You never know the happiness and fun you're missing out on if you never try.

Live long and prosper and do something that makes people go "Wow, I wish I was as brave as that person".

Human Emotions: Part 1

I'm only one call away
I'll be there to save the day
Superman's got nothing on me
I'm only one call away

Live long and prosper, and don't attempt to understand human feelings. It gets messy.

New Mexico!
This weekend, I'm in New Mexico! My sister and I are travelling companions for our friend who was originally going to drive down alone. We tagged along and toured the University of New Mexico. If I could describe it in one word, I would say "BIG". Wow is that campus huge! It didn't help that we kept getting lost and ended up walking all the way across campus to get to building that were close by... But it ended up being a fun experience!

This was my first official college visit, and I must say I'm pretty excited to move out and go to an official college after today! Although, I'll probably be here another 2 years. I can dream, right? Why such the hurry to move out? It's hard to have a life and move on when you're at home. Free college is great of course, and there is nothing wrong with being home for the next two years, but I guess I've always dreamed of finishing high school on time (again, I know free college credits trump all of that but still), taking Senior pictures, going to prom (with a dashing date, of course), and then going off to live at a 4 or 5 year college. All of the little things that homeschool Seniors never really get to experience. I'm willing to work to pay off loans and apply for scholarships and all that fun stuff. I just want to go the traditional route. I suppose in the long run it doesn't matter that much, right? Then I wonder why it matters so much to me right now...

Little college rant there. It wasn't my first and I daresay it won't be my last, so I shall keep praying and keep believing that God knows what he's doing and in the end, he knows what will bring me happiness.

Live long and prosper and believe in God's plan, okay?

"Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light."

Also! I will be posting pictures of New Mexico eventually, but for now, enjoy this picture from the Manitou Cliff Dwellings. :)

Theatre! (even though I didn't have rehearsal today and I'm terribly sad).

I'm currently in the production of Pride and Prejudice as Jane Bennet. Yay! It's been super fun so far with all of the joking around, inside jokes from other plays (like how my sister, both in the play and in real life, ends up marrying my husband, George Gibbs from Our Town but Mr. Darcy in P&P), and other assorted play-related shenanigans. I couldn't ask for a better acting group. I really couldn't. We're all so at ease and play practices are always an adventure.

Acting is so. much. fun. I guess it's the ability to go on stage and play another character. Or play someone who is completely yourself and being able to relate with the characters on a more personal level. I love improv, too. Which is another of the play group (aka Code Name Drama)'s specialty.

Earlier this month (or maybe last month, I honestly can't remember), we went to see Pride and Prejudice the Musical. It wasn't my favorite, but it was absolutely hilarious. Afterwards, we seriously considered asking the actors/actresses to join us in a game of "freeze". That reason right there is why I love CND. So, here's to many more plays, musicals, disruptive play practices in the library, crazy schedules, and weeks of mourning after the last performance (The cast party at Denny's after Our Town was rough. Wow).

^^^^ Our Town flier from last April
Wow, how time flies.
Well, back to making fondant dinosaurs (I'll post a picture once they're complete)!

Live long and prosper. And remember: The whole world is a stage! If you're lucky, you may be able to spot the tech crew changing scenes every now and then.

Let's talk food. I do so love food.
So, I shall start with my favorites:

Pad Thai: I love Pad Thai so much it's not even possible to love it more than I do. I have also been craving it the last couple of days which is terribly unfortunate when you don't have constant access to it. If you've never had it, the basic ingredients are rice noodles, egg, peanuts, usually chicken or tofu, fish sauce and sprouts. Of course there are other variations. (The picture on the right had sprouts and onions on top in addition to the previously mentioned ingredients). If you have never had it, you are seriously missing out on life. Please take my advice and eat it if convenient. If inconvenient, eat anyway.

(picture on left) I went to dance convention last April, and while I was there, we ate at a positively delicious Asian restaurant. It was the second day and the classes from the previous night were terribly hard. This food was like a gift from Heaven. And it turned out to be very difficult to eat with a spoon...

Ice cream: Come on, people. Who doesn't like ice cream? Favorite flavors: All flavors. I love anything even related to ice cream. Gelato, shave ice, ice cream bars, smoothies, blended coffee drinks, blended lemonade, if it's cold and sweet, I'll eat/drink it. That's all.

Ramen: I'm craving Asian food. I'm sorry. But a hot bowl of fresh ramen is perhaps one of the best foods ever. Miso ramen is sooooo good! Actually, all ramen is so good. I'm not talking about the ramen you get in packages at the store for like $.50 (although Chopagetti is pretty darn good), I'm talking about the legit ramen that you can get at family-owned restaurants usually occurring in large cities. (Ramen Ya in Honolulu is my favorite so far.

(Picture on left) My sister and I went to LA for a weekend in May to see Red Velvet, AOA, FTisland, and my personal favorite ever, SHINee!!!! (I'm still not over this, guys. I will never get over this). Anywho, we stayed with an awesome couple who took us everywhere and on the first day, we went to a tiny little ramen shop. It was so amazingly delicious!

Well, I'm off to eat my lunch now. Sadly, it doesn't consist of any on the delicious foods listed above, but I shall hold out hope that I may enjoy them fairly soon! :)

Live long and prosper and don't only eat ramen, eat real food, too! (A nice Korean goodbye-phrase according to K-dramas).

Monday:
A little Monday cheer for you! (including jokes, pictures, and perhaps a funny story or two).

Avoid buying flowers from monks. Only you can prevent Florist Friars.

I told a Chemistry joke once. There was no reaction.

My puppy and kitten snuggling. (Awwwww!!!)

Two men walk into a bar. You think the second one would have ducked.

Random overheard conversation: "Well, it's already been a bad day because I've been using a palm sander..."
^^I'm sorry that your day has been so bad. I hope tomorrow goes more smoothly. Get it? because sanding? And smoothly?

On that note, I'm signing off.

Live long and prosper, and laugh at one of the jokes at least, ya?
