Child at Heart

I recently read a Facebook article (I'm a sucker for them) titled "Things you shouldn't own over the age of 30." Now, I read it thinking that it would be things practical things or things to get rid of in order to have a simpler, happier life. I was wrong. It was mostly things that were considered too "juvenile" for a 30 year old. What even?

Some people (like the person who wrote this, I suppose), obviously prefer a "mature" life. But what's the fun in that? There were two categories of things that apparently you shouldn't own over the age of 30:

Things that made sense: Cheap makeup (Yes, I think by that time it's a good idea to find some good makeup), an unreliable car, bad hair care products, things from your ex, My Little Pony stuff, etc...

But then there were the things where I made the face of "what? Why can't I have that?": Hamsters (Hamsters? What? It's really a bad thing if you have a hamster??), bean bag chairs (I'm not even going to talk about these. Everyone should have a beanbag chair), concert posters (If I've gone to an epic concert, you bet I'm going to display the concert poster as a main focal point), and so on.

I'm not going to say everything that was on there (the link is below if you really want to read the whole thing), but I was appalled.

I'm personally a child at heart. I can be mature when I need to be, and I can have intelligent, meaningful conversation. But deep down (okay, not REALLY deep down), I still love playing with Legos, watching Barbie movies (don't judge), going into the American Girl store whenever life allows, and singing along to every Disney song that comes on anywhere. Is this a bad thing? Not at all in my opinion.

My best friend's family is a perfect example of this outlook on life (they vlog, and they're great. Their YouTube name is The Dale Tribe, btw). I go over there, and it's okay to be playful and laugh and sit in their GIANT beanbag chair (I'm jealous too, it's okay), and watch Barbie movies late into the night. And guess what? They're about the happiest, most carefree family that I know. Sure they have their troubles, as all people do, but they decide to always look at the positive, playful side of everything. Which I admire incredibly much. (I love you, Dales!!!)

Back to being a kid at heart, there's nothing wrong with loving thing that aren't for your "age group." Whoever invented that terrible rule is obviously someone that I wouldn't want to EVER hang around.

More about this later, but I'm about to watch some cheesy Disney shows.

Live long and prosper, but always be a child at heart.

Korean Market!

This past weekend, all the boys went hunting, and all us girls stayed home. It was so quiet! Wow! On Saturday, we spent the day in Colorado Springs going to a HUGE antique shop, Goodwill, Jersey Mike's, L&L, and my personal favorite, the Korean Market. I hadn't been before *gasp*, and I was dying to see what it was like.

We pulled up, and the wonderful smells were already making me extremely happy. With the workers chattering to each other in Korean, the smell of fish and Kimchi, and the wonderful foods filling every corner of the store, I was completely overwhelmed in that magical kind of way. I've never wanted to go to a country than I want to go to Korea.

After looking at every item on every shelf, here's what we ended up with:

Seaweed, of course. I personally only like it with Kimbap, but other members of my family LOVE to eat it straight. :)

Ottogi Curry Powder.
I've never tried it, but I love curry so I'm sure it'll be amazing. Yummmmm!
The best kind of ramen: Chapagetti!
It's thick and extremely savory and perfect. Once you have it, there's no going back.
Sweet Bean Paste!
To be eaten on ice cream, pancakes, inside mochi, and so much more.
Samancho ice cream fish things!
These were one of our favorites in Hawaii, and we kinda low-key freaked out when we found them at the Korean market. They're sweet waffle-sort of batter-ish thing on the outside (it's good, I promise), and then there's vanilla ice cream and sweet bean paste on the inside. The most perfect combination that has ever existed, tbh.
Chinese Quince Tea?
It's a jelly texture and has bits of quince in it. You stir it into hot or cold water and it makes tea, apparently. Has anyone ever tried this? If you have, please let me know.
Face masks!!!
It is a well-known fact that Korea has some of the best beauty products ever. And face masks are my favorite! They make your skin smooth and soft, and moisturize like no product that I've seen before. Plus they make you look really funny which is also a plus. Haha! Out of curiosity, I tried the snail one last night, and it's my favorite.  Slightly slimy, but it made my skin look so good!

Also, as we were checking out, there was a Korean lady who was impressed that I'm learning the language and watch Kdramas and make Kimbap. It sorta made my day. 😄

That's all, folks! I hope to explore more Korean markets throughout Colorado Springs and compare prices and such. But until then...

Live long and prosper and 사랑해❤

Pepero Day

Hello!

Pepero day is in less than a month!!! I didn't know about this holiday until just now, but I may be celebrating it. Like the video says, it's a day where you exchange Pepero to show love or affection. It's like Valentine's day but not. The thought is that if you eat a Pepero snack on November 11th (the numbers look like Pepero), then you'll be skinny. A silly superstition, but hey! That's apparently how it started.

Who doesn't need another excuse to eat Pepero? (For the less-informed people out there, Pepero is like Pocky but slightly thicker and Korean.) I've personally never had it, but Pocky is one of my favorites.

I will be going to the Korean market and attempting to find some! I have a feeling that it's amazing. :)

Also, EXO is in this video, and I love them. Hehe.

Live long and prosper and enjoy Pepero day (November 11th)!!

Life update!

Hullo! How have you been? Life been treating you well? Giving yourself enough breaks from school? Doing recreational things that bring you happiness? I do hope so! Life's been crazy over here, and I hope I have more chances to post in the future.

I started training for a 10K that is taking place in November, so that's exciting! Running is hard, but oh so rewarding. I'm feeling pretty good about it! I'm sure there will be hard days, but I know it'll be worth it in the end. :)

I also have a math test on Wednesday, but who wants to hear about that? Actually, nobody. Heh.

ALSO! I only have 2 episodes left in season 5 of Once Upon a Time!!! AHHHHH!!! It's been so terribly sad so far, so hopefully the ending is at least a little hopeful. I'm still in love with Hook, tbh.

What else......

Oh! I'm going to start buckling down and learn Korean more consistently in the near future! I have a book that I'm going to order soon and I'm hoping it'll help a lot.

Can you tell I'm really hopeful? :D

Anywho,

Live long and prosper and be sure to have some hope! Hope can be found in even the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light.

Star Trek

These last couple of days, Grace and I have rediscovered the old Star Trek. Let me tell you, it's so amazing! If you haven't seen any of the old episodes, I highly suggest that you do. And while you're at it, please watch Mission Impossible and the A-Team (all the old TV shows, not the new movies). They're so good in that slightly bad kind of way. Especially the special effects in Star Trek. Heh.

I used to watch Star Trek when I was a lot younger, but I had no idea what was going on and couldn't really get into it (imagine tiny me with Twizzlers in my hand, walking around saying "Beam me up, Scotty!" or "Captain, that's highly illogical". That really happened... Good times). Because I never could follow an entire episode, I never really considered myself a Trekkie. Do I now? Not quite yet. But I'm definitely getting there!

My mom is a Trekkie, and that is just the coolest thing ever in my opinion. She knows so many unexpected facts and trivia about the series, and used to watch it when she was little. I aspire to be like her. My older brother also knows everything there is to know about Star Trek. He's watched all the newer ones (Next Generation, Voyager, etc...), too. #impressed

So, the next time you have recreational time (I know it's a very rare thing), try investing it into a new show. You never know when it may become your favorite. :)

Live long and prosper!
Wow! My ending actually matched what I was talking about! *high-fives self*

Pride and Prejudice

Hello, minions!

I am currently sitting at play practice watching Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet run lines. It reminds me just how much I love this play and love story! *sighs* Pride and Prejudice was my first Jane Austin book that I read, and since then I've been in love with everything of that time period. :) If only life was as simple as it was back then. Alas.

Live long and prosper and read Pride and Prejudice!

SHINee 샤이니 1 of 1 Music Video

GUYS!!! IT'S OUT! AHHHHH! :D I love this so much. I've waited so long, and I am seriously impressed with their choreography. And how about Minho's rap (silver hair)??? Ahhhhh! This video proves why they're my favorite. Now I just need the dance version so that I may learn the dance. PEOPLE I'M STILL FREAKING OUT OVER HERE!!! It's already #1 on a ton of music charts and I couldn't be more proud! I now need to finish listening to the rest of their album. I'm sure I'll love it just as much! Saranghae! Fighting! <3

Also, Onew doesn't dance in the video, and I know that must have killed him. :'(

Enjoy the overly 90's vibe and awesome dance skills of this music video!

Sorry for the above sentences that weren't really sentences. I'm kinda low-key freaking out over here.

Live long and prosper and LISTEN TO THE SONG!

No, I mean like right now. Seriously. Listen to it. You won't regret it.

Homecoming

Let's talk homecoming. A night where all your dreams come true, you dance the night away, and your crush finally has the nerve to ask you to dance! Haha, not really... More like a night where getting dressed is the most fun part, you wait outside in the freezing cold for an hour to get in, profane music is blared, your crush isn't even there, and the only dancing that goes on is jumping up and down. So, why all the hype? I imagine if you have a boyfriend or really close friends to go with, then it has potential to be a really fun night. However, if you're like me, it ends up being a lot of standing around. Which is terribly unfortunate. I guess it's one of the woes of public school. Or something like that. Anywho... Despite the negative comments that were made above, I went twice. The first time was a lot of fun, and the second, not so much (nothing against who I was going with, it was just the mood I was in, I think). So, here are some pictures of last homecoming (2015). Enjoy!

The theme was "Decades", so I went with 40's. It was so impossible to find a dress that was 40's style! It took forever. Wow. But I ended up completely in love with my look. And I taler wore it to a home school dance. :)

If you haven't gathered it already, it's very hard for me to be serious. Like ever. Unless it's at my funeral. In which case, it took everything I had not to laugh at my husband kneeling in front of my grave (these are all Our Town references. Please don't be disturbed).

Due to transferring laptops, these are the only two pictures I have at the moment. When I find more, I'll probably post them. :)

Live long and prosper and avoid homecoming unless you get asked, have friends to go with, or just enjoy large crowds of people pretending they can dance.

Oh, and Happy Monday! :D

I Play my Soccer in the Rain

Whoever said sunshine is happiness has obviously never played soccer in the rain.

But seriously, I played soccer today and it was the best thing in the entire world. I always forget just how much I love it until I'm out on the field, running my very hardest, falling down, drenched in sweat, dead tired, and smiling through it all. Could it get any better? It can. When it rains. Ahh! So, take that above list, and add "soaked to the bone, slipping everywhere, barely able to see, and slightly freezing" to it, and you have soccer today.

I admit, I get very competitive when I play. Oh, you thought I was a nice, caring person? Take me to the soccer field, put me in a co-ed game, and see what happens. It's not pretty. I mean, I'm still nice... I'll just probably accidentally trip at least 2 people, step on numerous people's feet, shoot a ball a little too hard with poor aim and hit somebody, etc... You know. The usual.

I don't know how I survive without it. It's the air I've been breathing since I was so tiny. I love it almost as much as Chick-fil-a and ice cream. And that's saying a LOT. So please, enjoy some pictures of mini me playing soccer through the years. :)

One of my first soccer leagues. I was probably about 7 or 8 here. Actually, I still have the trophy sitting on my windowsill. It's been in my various rooms ever since we won that tournament. In a previous season, we had a tournament that was held on probably the coldest day of the year. It was sleeting, snowing, hailing, snowing, you name it, it was probably happening that day. There was a HUGE puddle in the middle of the field, and mud everywhere. I still remember it as being one of the best soccer games that I've played, even though I was a tiny, little person.

Not quite a tiny picture, but this was the only other one I could find. I was 13-ish here, I think. We won almost every game we played that season, and I made my record number of goals in one game: 8. Granted, we were supposedly the best team, and that score was against the no-so-great team, but I was terribly proud. Ahhh, good times, good times.

Anywho, that's all about soccer for now! There will be, no doubt, another soccer post in the future (or 500), so never you fear. :)

Live long and prosper, and do play more soccer, okay?
